Berry Beautiful!

Have you ever heard the saying you are what you eat?

Well it is 1000% true! The foods you put in your mouth directly effects the way your skin looks!!

No matter how much foundation or concealer you put on, if you don't have a healthy canvas, your makeup will not look as good as it could!

Eating the right foods can, among other things, prevent dryness, breakouts and wrinkles, lead to healthy cell production as well as a radiant complexion and just all around, make you look younger! You want to make sure to get a diet rich in antioxidants and fatty acids so as to create a positive effect on your skin.

Along with lifestyle choices, the foods we eat can either help or hurt our skin. Foods that hurt our skin are foods that cause inflammation within our bodies. Besides hurting your skin, they will hurt your overall health.

Here are a list of foods that will help your skin, also a list of foods that will harm your skin.

**Both list were taken from cosmeticscop.com**

Good Foods:

•Coffee (believe it or not, coffee is a tremendous source of antioxidants) and green tea
•Deeply-colored berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)

•Deeply-colored vegetables, especially leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables such as red cabbage

•Red, green, yellow, and orange bell peppers (plus all types of hot peppers)

•Salmon and other cold water, oily fish (a bountiful source of omega-3 fatty acids; choose wild caught rather than farm-raised)
•Walnuts (most nuts have health benefits, but they're calorie dense, so be mindful of portion control)

•Olive oil (also recommended: grape seed, walnut, rice bran, and canola oils)

•Whole grains (the fiber boost reduces inflammation)

•Spices such as ginger, turmeric, cardamom, curry, cumin, garlic, oregano, basil, and tamarind

•Flax or pumpkin seeds

•Yogurt (preferably plain or those with reduced sugar)

Bad Foods:

•Sugar, especially refined sugars such as high fructose corn syrup
•Trans-fats (any oil listed as "partially hydrogenated" qualifies), which includes margarine and most shortenings

•Processed or cured meats (the nitrites and nitrates are an acute source of inflammation)

•Red meat (if you won't give up beef, at least choose the leanest cuts and avoid grilling, which creates carcinogenic substances)

•Highly processed foods, which includes most of the menu at fast-food restaurants

•White flour (a source of simple carbohydrates and present in most baked goods)

•Desserts such as cakes, pastries, and yes, even that muffin you think is a healthy choice for breakfast

Remember:
Healthy Eating+Smart Skin=Beautiful You!

Have a happy, healthy eating day!

Westwood vs Middleton!

This past week, Vivienne Westwood took a jab at Kate Middleton stating Miss Kate's fashion style is that of an "ordinary women". Besides criticizing her fashion sense, the 70 year old London based fashion designer said that the Duchess of Cambridge has a problem with eye makeup!

The story goes that for her official engagement photos, Kate was so unhappy with the job the makeup artist did on her, she went in the bathroom, washed it off and proceeded to do her own makeup for the photo shoot. She felt so confident in her makeup application skills that after a few lessons with makeup artist Arabella Preston, she decided to do her own makeup on the day of her wedding. I don't know about you but that definitely was a very brave move being her wedding was going to be seen by 2 billion people around the world! That might just be the exact reason people love her so, she does come off as an ordinary woman and not in a bad way-

Now we all know how I feel about eyeliner, however I do agree that it can make you look hard or even older if not applied properly.

"The sharp line around her eyes makes her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none."
Miss Westwood does know a thing or two about eyeliner with all of the punk rock bands she hung out with in the 70's! Now that is a look to cover! Boys wearing eyeliner-definitely not my favorite!

Look at these Vivienne Westwood beauties!!

Rumor has it Miss Kate likes to watch the YouTube Makeup Gurus! She must not be watching me because she would know to smudge those harsh lines! What Kate should do is ditch the eyeliner on the lower lash line and instead opt for a smoky shadow like
Little Goddess Black Amethyst Mineral Eyeshadow so she can still get the dark definition she likes without it being so harsh looking.

What do you think? Is Kate's makeup too harsh and heavy handed? Should a women of her social status hire a professional makeup artist or should everyone just leave her alone?

The Best Mascara in the World! Part 2!

Hello lovelies!

Look at this little wand!

About a year ago, I posted a video showing the BEST MASCARA IN THE WORLD! However, in the video I felt you couldn't really see all of it's fabulousness! So I recently re shot the video and really zoomed in close so you can see that little magic wand in action!

Little Goddess HD Mascara is the BEST MASCARA IN THE WORLD because the brush is tiny so it lengthens and defines each lash!

HD Mascara comes in 2 shades:
Carbon Black
Espresso
**I was using Espresso in the video**

All About Me!

Over the weekend, someone asked me how Little Goddess Cosmetics came to be and I realized that many of you may not know my story. So here it is......

Once upon a time many, many, (many) years ago, my love of makeup led me to Elizabeth Arden. However, at my very young and very uninformed age, I decided that makeup was not going to allow me the financially rich life that I wanted. So off I went to start my very non lucrative career on Wall St.

The financial industry had been, at the time, the family business. My mother, Lucille, had worked on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange for many years and had a pretty successful career. I felt the NYSE would provide the stable, rewarding career I had wanted. So there I stayed for 15 years. Although my Wall St career was stable, it was definitely not rewarding.

What price did Nokia close at yesterday? Who cares! Did you see the new lip gloss MAC just released?! Can you please tell me if there are any buyers in BP? Sure! and then let me tell you in extreme detail about the eyeshadow quad I just bought from Chanel! Read the financial times? Blech-I would've rather been reading Allure!

**Those were not actually responses-just what I was thinking in my head!**

In 2007, I was laid off from my Wall St job. Although I loved my time on Wall St-I made many friends, learned a lot and was able to be a part of something that was so big and very exciting, I decided I would never again do something that I didn't absolutely love and Little Goddess Cosmetics was born!

**The name Little Goddess is one of honeybun's many nicknames for me!**

So in a nutshell, I am a makeup loving, beauty addicted, platform wearing, hair dying, foodie chef in my head, music loving, eyeliner baby!

My message to you all is to follow your passion-no matter when in life it may strike you! Don't be afraid to fail! Most successful people do fail at one point or another but that is because they take the risk!!
Follow your path!
Good Luck!

**an eyeliner baby is someone who is born to wear eyeliner!**

How to Repair Damaged Powder Cosmetics!

Hey Guys!

I was online the other day when I came across this cool article explaining how to repair damaged (crushed) powder eyeshadows, blushes or any pressed powder product.

Here's what you need:
Rubbing Alcohol
Dropper or Straw
1 Plastic Baggy
1 Crushing Tool
1 Coin
Paper Towel, Tissue or Fabric

Step 1- Insert the broken powder product into the plastic baggy.
Step 2- With your crushing tool, gently crush product into small fine pieces (as opposed to big chunky pieces)
Step 3-Very carefully remove product and place on top of baggy (to alleviate spillage and mess)
Step 4-With a dropper or straw (place straw in alcohol, place finger over straw-homemade dropper) drip a few (5 ish) drops of alcohol onto product.
Step 5-Cover your coin with paper towel or product and press down on alcohol soaked product. You want to apply enough pressure to pack product back together.

Voila'!
Product will look like new!

I have attached a video so you can see how it is done. My product did not turn out as "new" as I had anticipated-I believe I should have added more alcohol and used a bigger coin! I had some lines from the edge of the coin, a bigger coin would have fit better and would have created a more uniform look.

Also, the higher the alcohol content, the quicker the
product will dry!

Good Luck and happy repairing!

Sexy Summertime Glow!

Summertime is right around the corner, which means your blindingly white skin that has not seen the light of day in 6 months is about to make an appearance!
Now you can do a few things to get that beautiful tan that we all love. You can risk cancer and wrinkles and lay in the sun or go to a tanning salon. You can also risk looking like an oompa loompa and get a spray tan or self tan at home.
Not everyone wants to look like a cheeto and the smell of self tanner is definitely not exactly pleasant but everyone wants to look healthy and glowy, not pale and pasty!
So here are a few products that will give your skin a gorgeous tinted glow!

Prtty Peaushun
First, let me introduce you to Prtty Peaushun (pronounced pretty potion) Skintight Body Lotion. Prtty Peaushun is a skin enhancer created by Hollywood makeup artist, Bethany Karlyn. Prtty Peaushun claims to "lift, firm, tighten and diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and varicose veins". Now, I don't know if it does all that because I have not been using it long enough but I sure hope it does! What it does do is give the skin a radiant flattering glow! Prtty Peaushun is fragrance free and does not contain any toxic ingredients or animal products. It is not tested on animals. It also contains 92% raw ingredients which I would have listed but the list was a bit long-if you visit the website, they list all the ingredients and what each one does. It comes in 5 shades and retails at $36 for 8 ounces!

Bathina, take a pic it last longer
Next is Benefit's Bathina, Take a Pic it Last Longer-a "silky, glimmering body balm" that adds a golden-pink sheen to your skin! I could not find the ingredients for this one but it retails at $28 for 1.5 ounce.

Mineral Sheer Veil
Lastly, get that Goddess Glow with Little Goddess Mineral Sheer Veil! This little bottle of liquid light will keep your skin looking radiant throughout the day! My Mineral Sheer Veil contains antioxidants including Vitamins A, E, Ginkgo Biloba and Ginseng Extracts and retails at $28 for 1 ounce. Available in 3 shades.

So whichever way you decide to get your glow on will be much healthier than baking under the blazing sun and you will avoid smelling like a corn chip!

Primed and Ready!

Well my little lovelies, today we are going to discuss the importance of primer.

Everything that is painted-a wall, furniture, a car, etc-needs a primer. A primer creates tooth, in other words, something for the paint to hold on to! A primer also creates a seal to protect the surface, be it wood or metal.

Your skin needs a primer also if you plan on painting it. Think of your face as the wall and your foundation as the paint! You will need a primer to do one of a few things:

First, a primer can provide something for the foundation to stick to. When you apply primer, your foundation will adhere to the primer instead of sliding away or settling in with your moisturizer.

Second, a primer can protect the surface by locking in any moisturizer you have already applied. Also, instead of your foundation sitting on your skin and settling into your pores, it will "float" on top of it with the primer. Your foundation will last longer!

Third, a primer can provide some benefits for the skin:

Pore Perfecting Face Primer
If you have oily skin, a primer such as Little Goddess Pore Perfecting Face Primer, can mattify the skin and control the oilies. Our Pore Perfecting Face Primer contains Salicylic Acid to fight acne and keep skin smooth. Remember to use sun protection as BHA's can leave your skin sun sensitive!

RetexturCREME Face Primer

If you have dry skin, a primer such as LittleGoddess RetexturCREME Face Primer can provide an additional layer of moisture. Especially good for the dry winter months!

Retextur Face Primer

Little Goddess Retextur Face Primer with SPF 20 is good for all skin types. This virtually weightless serum contains opalescent light reflectors that diminish lines and leaves a translucent effect on the skin. Antioxidant Vitamins A and E seal in moisture, creating the smoothest possible base for foundation.

Primers can also be worn alone to smooth out the appearance of your skin! I like to spot prime-I like to use the Retextur SPF 20 to prime my cheeks and the delicate area under my eyes so concealer goes on smoothly. Sometimes, in the summer, if I feel a bit shiny, I will use the Pore Perfecting Primer to keep the shine off my forehead!

So ladies, if you have been having problems getting your makeup to stay on, visible pores, shininess or dryness, a primer might be just the thing you need to prepare your skin for all day perfection!

Happy Prepping and Priming!

Fly Fancy Nails!!

Hey Guys!
I just wanted to share something fun with you that I discovered today!
Yesterday, one of the YouTube Gurus that I follow posted a video on these cute appliques for your nails. Now usually I wouldn't pay any attention to anything having to do with nails because I hate getting my nails done. I won't do them myself because I do not have a steady hand and I very rarely get manicures because I am way too impatient to sit and wait for the paint to dry. However, something about the nail post caught my eye-the nails just looked so darned cute! They were a hounds tooth print and seemed easy enough to apply.
Fast forward to today-I was checking out a new beauty supply store they opened in my town and low and behold! What was staring me in the face when I walked in the door you ask? None other than those cutie pie nail designs! I figured it was fate and decided to give it a try. I choose a black and white zebra design with bling-they were only $3.99, if I messed it up it would be much cheaper than messing up a manicure. I also thought my little nieces that I am going to see tomorrow would get a kick out of them!
Well let me tell you how ridiculously easy it is to apply these things! 18 different sized pieces/strips come in a package.

How the strips appear in the package!

My thumb!

First, I filed and buffed my nails.

Then you apply clear top coat and let dry.

Next you take one of the nail strips and size it to you nail.
**TIP** These strips are somewhat long. I have little hands and short nails so I was cutting a strip in half and then using one on one hand and the other half on the same finger of the opposite hand. Now I will have double the usage! Also, I cut 2 little angle's on the bottom of the strips so they would fit on the nail bed better and not look so square.

Peel off applique and apply to your nail. Press firmly down for good adhesion.

Then you gently fold the applique over your nail tip and lightly file in a downward motion to get rid of any over hang.

Lastly, apply a layer of clear top coat to the nail and let dry!

I cannot stress how simple this is to do! Believe me when I tell you, I am very uncoordinated and downright sloppy when it comes to home manicures but I will definitely be buying these in every design! If you are like me and cannot wait for nail polish to dry, then this is just the thing for you-there is absolutely no dry time! I used an Insta-Dry top coat that dried instantly!
So give it a try and let me know how simple and fun it was!

My little fingers!

Weddings and Proms!

 Hi Guys!

June is here and besides sunshine and mosquito's, you know what else June brings?

Weddings and Proms!

Me, the night of my prom
with my 1987 hair!

My prom was at the plaza hotel in NYC-fancy, I know!
Two other ladies had on the same dress as me!
Oh well-we all looked spectacular!

Weddings and proms are usually an all day affair with lots of dancing and photography, so I wanted to give you a few tips to help make your special day beautiful!

1. Today is not the day to try a new look! If  you don't usually wear a lot of makeup, today is probably not the day to try out that heavy smokey eye you have been thinking about! You want to look like a very polished, pretty version of yourself. You don't want to look back at photos years from now and think "Ugh-what was I thinking?"

Photo taken from the internet
2. If you are using a professional makeup artist, schedule a consultation to make sure you are both on the same page. You want to make sure he/she understands exactly how you want to look on your big day and will be capable of executing your vision!

3. If you are doing your own makeup, practice, practice, practice! You will probably need to use a heavier hand than you usually would-flash photography takes away about 50% of your makeup in photos. Also, make sure to choose colors that compliment the color of your dress, not clash with or is too matchy matchy.

4. Keep in mind that products such as foundation, that have mineral sun protection in it can cause a whitish, mask like effect on the skin when a flash hits it. Remember, that is how mineral sun protection works, it deflects the sun--it will deflect a flash. You know when you see a photograph of someone and the skin on their face and the skin on their chest look totally different? That is because the makeup on the face is deflecting the flash and the "real" skin on the chest is absorbing the flash-you could avoid this look by lightly blending your foundation all the way down to your chest or lightly dusting powder on the chest.

Photo taken from the internet

5. Keep shimmers in check-photography will exaggerate shimmer. You don't want to look like a shiny disco ball on your wedding day-

6. You may want to try using a long wearing foundation formula for the day but be sure to try it about a month in advance to see how your skin reacts to it. You don't want to have a break out or any irritation from a new product. Also remember that "like likes like" meaning if you have an oil based moisturizer on and a water based foundation, they won't "like" each other. Oil and water don't mix and your makeup will slide right off! Your best bet is to apply a thin layer of a water based moisturizer and then apply a water based foundation on top. This is a good tip for everyday if you feel your makeup doesn't last.
**Airbrushed makeup is perfect for a day like today as it is long lasting, however I would not recommend airbrushing your makeup yourself unless you've had plenty of practice.  Also, something I have learned the hard way-contact wearing ladies, if you airbrush your foundation on and it gets on your contacts, it will adhere! You will have to remove your contacts and seriously rub and clean them thoroughly to get the makeup off!**

7. Lastly, don't schedule any pre-big day skin care treatments such as facials or peels for at least a month as you can have a reaction. I would also avoid waxing for the week before. You don't need a red, peeling, blotchy face on your big day! Remember that episode of SATC when Samantha showed up to Carries book signing with a badly burned face from a chemical peel! Don't be a Samantha!

So I hope this helps make your day even more special!
These tips are good for anyone who has an important day coming up or just wants to look their very best everyday!
If anyone has any tips I may have forgotten, please feel free to post them in the comments section below!
